Site Remediation Reform Act Signed Into Law
05/08/2009
Governor Jon Corzine of New Jersey signed into law the Site Remediation Reform Act that will dramatically alter the way investigations and cleanups are done in New Jersey. The bill, which creates a Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) program, is intended to cut down on the state’s backlog of site remediation cases and revitalize site redevelopment. The law is designed to streamline NJDEP review of environmental reports. LSRP-certified professionals will have the authority to oversee and certify that clean-up projects have met all State approvals at nearly 20,000 hazardous waste sites in the state, while assuring strong accountability, oversight, and transparency.
