Ben LaMonte, site operations manager, Mark Aument, staff engineer, and their dragon boat team, Moffitt Flying Dragons # 1, took first place in the charity race competition! GES employees along with clients, Eagle SWS and Progress Energy, and friends in the environmental field participated in the dragon boat race. The Tampa Bay Dragon Boat Institute, nonprofit organization, hosted the fundraiser for their designated beneficiaries: FACTors Breast Cancer Patient Support Program at Moffitt Cancer Center and the Florida Aquarium. GES sponsored T-shirts for the race team.
Dragon Boating in Tampa began in 1999 as a way to get the community involved and as a fundraiser for charities. The Festival now hosts over 70 teams at the event. In the US, there are over 70 communities hosting Dragon Boat Festivals, and more than 60 million participants worldwide. For more information, visit: http://www.tampabaydragonboats.com/
GES’ Tampa office spent a Saturday removing over six tons of the invasive Brazilian pepper plant at Al Palonis Park during the Hillsborough River & Waterways Cleanup Day. GES was an event sponsor. The Parks Department was thrilled with the progress, and the Tampa group is considering adopting the park for a continued volunteer commitment.
