Personnel and Facility Environmental Health and Safety Services for COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus)

GES can support the urgent and ongoing needs of your operations resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Our first core value is Health, Safety, Security, & Environment (HSSE), meaning we have an unwavering commitment to safeguard people, property, and the environment. We are dedicated to helping our clients to control the spread of COVID-19, maintain business continuity, and ensure the health and safety of our communities.

Our national team of experienced industrial hygienists, safety specialists and environmental scientists are on standby ready to provide the following services related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19, virus, coronavirus
Cleaning and Disinfection Services

GES provides comprehensive cleaning and disinfecting services, including management and oversight to ensure full compliance with established cleaning protocols and SOPs, Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) plans, Health and Safety Plans (HASPs), and regulatory authorities.

Development of Cleaning and Disinfection Protocols and SOPs

GES has developed site specific facility cleaning protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to eliminate pathogens through intensive disinfectant procedures, thus minimizing the potential risk of exposure and transmission. These protocols and SOPs are developed in accordance with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), and state/local agencies.

Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plan

GES will develop and implement a QA/QC plan for the cleaning and post-cleaning inspection/evaluation. QA is proactive and process oriented – a set of activities for ensuring quality. QC is reactive and product-oriented – actions to identify and correct defects. Our QA/QC plans include preventative measures to keep your facility and furnishings from being damaged during the cleaning and disinfecting project.

Post-Cleaning and Disinfection, and Documentation

GES will collect post-cleaning and disinfection samples to evaluate and document that the targeted areas have been cleaned in accordance with the established cleaning and disinfecting protocol. Our staff will streamline the documentation process with a comprehensive job hazard analysis, statements of work, and required contract paperwork. Currently, there is no specific environmental surface test to determine the presence of COVID-19. However, GES uses an on-site environmental monitoring device that evaluates Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) surface residue as a marker for evaluating the successful execution of the cleaning process. This protocol is used in the food processing and healthcare industries to determine the effectiveness of cleaning operations. ATP sampling provides rapid, real-time results which greatly reduces the time for re-occupancy.

Data Collection, Processing, and Analysis

GES offers an additional layer of protection before facilities are re-occupied by staff following a COVID-19-related shutdown. Through testing, we can document, process, and analyze the data sets to conclude if an area is safe for normal habitation again.

Pandemic Response and Preparedness Plans and Return to Work/Reoccupancy Planning

GES has had a Pandemic (Coronavirus) Response and Preparedness Plan policy in place. As the pandemic came to fruition, our policy was activated and is updated on a regular basis (Revision 10 dated April 17, 2020). GES will provide your organization with a general Pandemic Preparedness and Response Plan that is customizable to your specific needs or help you review your existing Pandemic Preparedness and Response Plan and/or related policy and procedures. Should your facilities require a more customized approach, we will consult with you and provide a detailed plan addressing your specific needs. In addition, GES’ technical staff will work with you to devise a detailed plan on how to bring employees back to work that focuses on human physical safety in the work place. Physical safety is a complex and a serious issue that will require a comprehensive set of processes designed to substantially mitigate the entrance of and the transmission of COVID-19 in your workplace.

Environmental Health and Safety Compliance Audits and Communications

GES routinely perform compliance audits, including an analysis of compliance issues and application of regulatory requirements. GES will help promote a safety culture and a safe work environment through communication of HASPs and protocols to your employees and other stakeholders. Communication developed by GES will also include employee training with respect to return to work and office reoccupancy plans.

Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) Inspection/Evaluation

A GES CIH will conduct all post-cleaning inspection/evaluation, which will include a visual inspection of the cleaned area and surface sampling/spot checks of selected areas.

OSHA-Trained Staff

GES offers emergency response services performed by our experts who are trained in accordance with OSHA Hazardous Waste Operation and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Standard 29 CFR 1910.120, Blood-borne Pathogen Standard 29 CFR 1910.1030 and infectious disease cleanup protocol outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Our personnel routinely perform emergency response and decontamination services.
