
Susan O’Brien, is Sr. Vice President of the Government and Consulting & Engineering (C&E) Sector at GES. She leads strategy and business development initiatives focused on expanding the firm’s presence and driving growth in both state and federal markets. Her efforts focus on forging new partnerships and teaming arrangements, and growing GES’ geographic footprint to strategically position the company for new growth opportunities. With a robust pipeline of opportunities, Sue spearheads initiatives to deepen relationships with key strategic partners and contracting officers to secure RFP opportunities across the company’s geography.
Sue began her career at GES in April 2011. She brings over 35 years of experience building strong relationships with strategic government partners, and a diverse background and proven leadership to her work.
Sue’s professional career started as a Contracts Administrator at Raytheon Company, a defense contractor, where she managed negotiations and awards process with the Federal Government. She learned after 5 years she wanted to pursue a career in Business Development and transitioned into the booming business sector of environmental in the late 80s. Sue’s career is unique in that she is experienced in both Consulting and Remediation business development. Combined with her strong background in Contracts, she possesses a unique skill and ability to bid a wide range of services to a client within the Sector.
A seasoned executive, Sue possesses extensive experience in management, consulting, and remediation services. She is recognized for her strong commitment to advancing government initiatives through innovative solutions, with a career marked by a consistent focus on driving business development and strategic partnerships. A distinguishing feature of her career is her ability to navigate complex regulatory environments, ensuring compliance while delivering exceptional service.

Sue holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Government and Politics from the University of Hartford, and is based in our Westford, MA Office.

When Sue is not working, you will likely find her digging through recipe books and cooking up new dishes. Even though her three kids are grown, when they come to visit, they are always looking for the Tupperware filled with food to take home. In addition, she loves to bike several days a week, is in a book club, and loves traveling with friends and family several times a year. She loves the beach and relaxing in a chair with a book, that is her definition of heaven.
