GES provides HSSE Training Tailored to the Environmental Industry

Health and safety training is required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Standard [29 CFR 1910.120 (e)] for individuals who perform environmental assessments and cleanup activities.  Currently many companies use the lowest price provider for annual refresher; however, they discover that the course materials do not reflect their business standards or operations and, it is not worth their staff’s time.

GES’ client required design of a vapor barrier as a proactive measure to mitigate any potential for vapor intrusion into the repurposed historic distillery building without compromising the integrity of the structure. GES designed a vapor barrier and preliminary piping layout for the sub-slab depressurization system (SSDS) for the building construction.

GES conducted a site investigation at a former dry cleaner facility to delineate the source area, evaluated receptors, and initiated a vapor intrusion (VI) investigation of the site and five surrounding residential properties. VI sampling required sub-slab sampling-point installation, sub-slab and near-slab sampling using SUMMA canisters with flow restrictors, and indoor air sampling using SUMMA canisters with 24-hour flow restrictors.

Improving water quality and preserving access to safe, reliable water resources.

The sustainable use and management of water resources is vital to protecting human health and the environment. Repairing, restoring, and maintaining water quality to comply with regulatory standards and meet the needs of industry and the public is a core responsibility.

Develop the best approach to navigate and eliminate VI risk exposures

Vapor Intrusion (VI) is the migration of contaminant (volatile organic compounds, methane, and/or radon) into building structures from the subsurface. Over the years VI assessment, regulatory guidance and requirements, and mitigation has evolved at a rapid pace. Determining the correct approach for your site is critical. Do you need mitigation? If so, what is required? What is needed?

Double Major: Psychology and Neuroscience

Jillian Evans, daughter of Rich Evans (Exton, PA), will be entering her first year at the University of Delaware as a member of the Honors College pursuing a double major in psychology and neuroscience. A personal recovery journey with Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome throughout her early teen years have catapulted Jillian’s interest in pediatric neuropsychology and her hopes to eventually help other children with similar disorders.

Welcome to GES!
