Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES) is proud to announce the recipients of the 2026–2027 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Scholarship Program. Established to recognize academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to community service, the program awards three $2,000 scholarships each year to children of GES employees who demonstrate outstanding achievement both inside and outside the classroom.
This year’s scholarship recipients are:

- Riley Good
- Samuel Skurka
The GES Marketing Department administers the CSR Scholarship Program, while an independent selection committee conducts a blind review of all applications. Candidates are evaluated using a weighted scoring system that considers academic achievement, a personal essay, transcripts, extracurricular activities, community service, work experience, and career goals.
GES extends its sincere appreciation to this year’s selection committee—Basith Mohammed, Chris Mulry, and Leslie Wong—for their time, dedication, and thoughtful evaluation of each applicant. Their commitment helps ensure a fair and meaningful selection process.
Meet the 2026–2027 Scholarship Recipients
Joshua Maia Lopes
Joshua, son of Linda Maia Lopes (Corporate, Wall Township, NJ), recently graduated from the Howell High School Performing Arts Center (FPAC) and will attend the University of Tampa, where he will pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre with a minor in Professional Education.
Beyond his passion for the performing arts, Joshua is dedicated to environmental stewardship and community service. He participates in beach cleanups, recycling initiatives, and other sustainability efforts while volunteering with children with special needs and supporting community performances. He hopes to use storytelling and the arts to inspire others to care for both people and the environment.
Riley Good
Riley, daughter of Denise Good (Exton, PA), will attend Shippensburg University to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education.
Her passion for teaching was inspired through her experience as a teacher assistant in elementary classrooms, where she discovered a desire to create supportive and inclusive learning environments. Riley served as Student Council President, varsity lacrosse captain, and was an active member of both the National Honor Society and National English Honor Society. She is committed to helping every student succeed while encouraging environmental responsibility through hands-on sustainability and recycling initiatives.
Samuel Skurka
Samuel, son of Joe Skurka (Pittsburgh, PA), is pursuing a degree in Finance at Ohio University.
Committed to environmental conservation, Samuel founded a community initiative focused on removing litter from local trout streams and waterways. His dedication to preserving natural resources reflects both his love of the outdoors and his desire to make a lasting impact. In addition to his conservation work, he has been actively involved in organizations focused on digital assets, artificial intelligence, and community service projects supporting military veterans.
