What’s Your Quality Brand?

I was recently talking with a state regulator. Our conversation turned to quality and what identifies a quality product. Using household appliances as an example, we agreed that if you owned a harvest gold or avocado green appliance – washer, dryer, stove, oven – you knew you had a quality item that would last. If you’ve never seen a harvest gold or avocado green appliance, ask a Gen X’er or a Boomer; they’ll help you out.

Are you recognized as a quality professional? Do your coworkers, clients, and others around you see quality in you? When they think of you, are they confident that you will deliver quality in everything you do? This is your personal brand. What distinguishes your personal brand? What traits would people attribute to your brand?

Is quality one of them?

Most people don’t use “quality” when they describe people, but they use other words that indicate quality – dependable, thoughtful, thorough, professional, intelligent, detail-oriented, and conscientious are descriptors they might use about you and your personal brand.

Do any of those words describe how you would like others to see you? I hope so. Be those traits. Build your brand. Show your true colors.

You don’t have to wear harvest gold or avocado green to be quality, but it helps!
