GES Recognized

GES NJ Sustainable Business

Small businesses across New Jersey are starting to save money, share their successes, and inspire other companies by implementing sustainable business best practices. Joining this list of small businesses, GES recently became one of the companies in the state to be recognized as a New Jersey Sustainable Business.

The NJ Sustainable Business Registry was launched in the fall of 2014. It is a partnership between the New Jersey Small Business Development Centers (NJSBDC) and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), with support and assistance from other companies and environmentally-concerned partners and stakeholders. Companies that have implemented sustainable practices can register their achievements and be recognized on the online registry.

GES Achieved Recognition For:

  • Waste Recycling: GES requires all offices to participate in local recycling programs. Our K-Cup recycling program (as of February 2020) resulted in GES successfully recycling companywide 63,774 K-Cups, equivalent to 2,390 pounds!
  • Commitment to our HSSE Program: GES’ low experience modification rate (EMR) of 0.8, a direct result of our HSSE program efforts, resulted in a $24,600 annual savings on our worker compensation insurance premiums.
  • Sustainable Operations and Remediation (SOAR): GES developed a tiered approach for the consideration and implementation of sustainable practices into the site environmental management process.

These are some of the many steps GES will undertake to develop our corporate sustainability policy and objectives in 2020 and achieve our goal of becoming a more sustainable company.
